Challenge: Cuneo / M.I.A.C.: How to provide isolated communities with sustainable food logistics?

Target Group: Isolated Communities

FreshConnectCuneo is a sustainable logistics project that connects local food producers with isolated communities in Cuneo using refrigerated lockers and eco-friendly delivery methods. In partnership with the WeSpesa platform, energy-efficient lockers are placed in strategic community hubs like senior centers and associations, offering residents convenient access to fresh food without long-distance travel.

The project aims to improve food access, support the local economy, and reduce the environmental impact of food distribution. Community involvement was key: forums and surveys guided the selection of locker locations.

Implemented in collaboration with the WeSpesa platform, energy-efficient lockers were installed at key community locations, such as senior centers and local associations. Community input, gathered through forums and surveys, played a central role in selecting appropriate locker sites to ensure accessibility and relevance. Approximately 15 people were involved in the co-creation activities, with around 10 being considered as representatives of marginalised communities. A zero-emission bicycle delivery service was launched. An intelligent algorithm optimizes locker use and delivery schedules.

Next steps include expanding the locker network based on collected data and strengthening the model for long-term sustainability and replication in other rural areas.

Challenge: Cuneo: How to facilitate sports practice among youth with limited financial resources?

Target Group: Youth

Sport4AllCuneo is a digital platform designed to make sports accessible, affordable, and socially engaging for youth aged 13-18 in Cuneo, Italy. The project’s primary objective is to address the financial and logistical barriers that prevent youth, particularly those from low-income families, from participating in sports.

The solution was developed through a deep co-creation process centered on a Youth Advisory Committee, which worked alongside schools and local sports associations to shape the platform. The target group was represented by 15 individuals aged from 13 to 18. This ensured the final product was tailored to the users’ actual needs.

The pilot resulted in a fully functional mobile application featuring an intuitive booking system for local sports facilities. Key results include the successful launch of the platform, good user adoption within the target group, and the emergence of a vibrant community that uses the app to organize events and connect with peers.

Next steps involve scaling the platform to rural and semi-urban areas around Cuneo and establishing a non-profit organization to ensure the long-term sustainability and management of the service, solidifying its role as a key part of the local youth support infrastructure.
